man-giving-flowers-[400x600]When you’ve spent so much of your life with someone, it’s easy to fall into a comfortable routine. By now, it’s likely the hugs, kisses, and “I love you’s” have become part of this routine, and might not produce the butterflies they once did. But with Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s a great time to put forth a little extra effort to show that special someone how you feel about them.

Dating is dating, regardless of age, so don’t think because you’re a senior you get a pass on this holiday. Get out there and be creative. Don’t worry about the things you once loved doing that you’re no longer able to. Focus on what you can do, and have fun! Here are some ideas to make your Valentine’s Day special:

Go Dancing

Check out the local recreation or senior centers for a Valentine’s Day dance. Despite popular belief, you don’t have to be a great dancer to have a great time dancing.

Visit a Museum or Art Exhibit

You may feel like you don’t care for art or museums. Well, that doesn’t matter. It’s not always about doing an activity you love, but doing an activity with the person you love. And who knows, you might discover a new interest.

Volunteer at a Social Event

Spend the day with your partner having a fun and satisfying day while serving a good cause. There are usually plenty of events that happen on Valentine’s Day, so find one that interests both of you and help out.

Go on a Picnic

Weather permitting, take your guy or gal to the park for a nice, quiet meal. Make simple sandwiches or order take out from your favorite restaurant. If you’re unable to sit on the ground, don’t you worry; there are usually plenty of picnic tables around.

While this is just a small list of ideas, there are plenty of other options available to you, depending on where you live. Activities will also depend on physical health and ability, but there’s always something you can do. And remember, however you plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day, the most important part is the time you spend with the person you love!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
